ENT – Ear Nose Throat
ENT is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the head and neck, including particularly the ears, nose and throat. ENT doctors are also called otolaryngologists.
General Surgery
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. General surgeries also treat diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, and hernias.
Surgeons trained in endoscopy use a camera to view inside the stomach or large intestine. This helps to diagnose cancer, inflammation or ulcers.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube put through a cut (incision) in the belly to look at the abdominal organs or the female pelvic organs. Laparoscopy is used to find problems such as cysts, adhesions, fibroids, and infection. Tissue samples can be taken for biopsy through the tube (laparoscope).
Other surgical procedures can be done laparoscopically. These include the removal of the appendix or gall bladder and fallopian tubal ligation.
Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery (or neurological surgery) is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord and nerves.
Services include treatment of neck and back pain, brain surgery and cancerous conditions of the spine or brain.
Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine specializing in the anatomy, function and diseases of the eye and vision care.
Orthopaedics
Orthopaedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery that focuses on injuries and diseases of your body’s bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.
Orthropedic surgeons treat broken bones, joint diseases /joint replacement, damaged tendons and deformation of the system originating at birth.
Paediatric Surgery
Paediatric surgery is a subspecialty of surgery involving the surgery of fetuses, infants, children and adolescents.
Common elective procedures:
Herniotomy for congenital inguinal (groin area) hernia and hydrocoele (collection of fluid around the testes)

A surgical specialty that is dedicated to the reconstruction or repairing of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, injury and disease.

Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic surgery refers to any type of surgery performed on the heart, lungs, esophagus and other organs in the chest.
Urology
Urology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary tract system and the male reproductive organs. The organs under the domain of urology include the kidneys, adrenal glands, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and the male reproductive organs (testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate and penis).
Services include treatment of kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, prostate diseases and the passing of blood in the urine.
Vascular Surgery
This specialty treats diseases of the blood vessels. Problems with poor circulation can be treated with surgery (bypass) or angioplasty. In diabetics, bad circulation can result in poor healing of leg ulcers. They can also from this type of treatment.
Varicose veins can be treated with a combination of laser, surgery or chemical injections (sclerotherapy). Cosmetic treatments can also be carried out for spider veins.
Cardiology
Cardiology is the study of the heart and its action and diseases which also involves finding, treating and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Sub-specialties of internal medicine include allergy and immunology, cardiology (heart diseases), endocrinology (hormone disorders), hematology (blood disorders), infectious diseases, gastroenterology (diseases of the gut), nephrology (kidney diseases), oncology (cancer), pulmonology (lung disorders), and rheumatology (arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders).
Nephrology
Nephrology is a specialty of medicine that concerns itself with the study of normal kidney function, kidney problems, the treatment of kidney problems and renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation). This includes systemic conditions that affect the kidneys (such as diabetes and autoimmune diseases) and systemic problems that occur as a result of kidney problems (such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension).
