The Surgical Scrub Technician program prepares students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to assist surgeons during procedures, maintain sterile environments, and ensure operating rooms run safely and efficiently. This course is ideal for individuals interested in the fast-paced world of surgical care.

  • Module 2: Anatomy & Physiology
  • Module 3: Fundamentals of Surgical Environments
  • Module 4: Aseptic Techniques and Infection Control
  • Module 5: Surgical Instrumentation and Equipment
  • Module 6: Wound Care & Specimen Management
  • Module 7: Perioperative Patient Care
  • Module 8: Surgical Procedures and Specialties
  • Module 9: Emergency Protocols and Safety in the Operating Room
  • Module 10: Clinical Practicum

PROJECT STRUCTURE

Duration:
Fifteen weeks (3-4 months)

Total Instructional Hours:
Approximately 210- 220 hours


Learning Components:

Didactic (classroom/online)

– Approximately 55- 60 hours over the first 9 weeks

Practical lab training
– Approximately 55- 60 hours over the first 9 weeks

Clinical practice
– Approximately 100 hours (3 months) @ approximately 16 hours/ week for the last 6 weeks

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINEES

  • Must be 17 years or older at the time of enrollment
  • A minimum of 3 CXC passes (Math, English & 1 Science)
  • Clinical experience will be an asset
